Bogotá, the Colombian miracle

Far from a cliché, Bogotá is an extremely welcoming city towards travellers, offering the spectacle of its colonial charm. Book a flight to Bogotá and you will be heading for a unique city in Latin America, perched on a mountainside, festive and colourful.

Since the 2000s, Colombia has focused on welcoming travellers to ensure the best conditions for a stay in Bogotá with its modernised transport network, the capital guarantees an unforgettable getaway in its authentic tourist trails. At an altitude of 2,600 metres, make the most out of the breathtaking panoramas to admire the surrounding mountains from the city centre. The Colpatria tower, and Calera, a hill located east of the Usaquen district, offer the best views.

During your trip to Bogotá, get out and discover its endearing neighbourhoods: that of Candelaria, for example, which is populated by many hotels and hostels. A former colonial neighbourhood, full of churches and brightly coloured houses, it contrasts with the modern areas of the north, where the Colombian youth hang out at the cafés and trendy nightclubs. The Zona Rosa, with its shops and restaurants, is also an ideal place to unwind in the evening. To live in the Colombian rhythm, we must attend Paloquemao market, colourful with its local fruits and vegetables.

Book a flight to Bogotá and dive into the history of the city : you can visit the villa of Bolivar, a museum which was the residence of the Colombian Libertador in the 1820s. With the aid of altitude, Bogotá is an ideal sky observation point: astronomy enthusiasts should definitely make a stop at the National Astronomical Observatory of Colombia, as well as the Planetarium of Bogotá. The Gold Museum is worth visiting: recently refurbished, it houses the largest collection of pre-Columbian gold in America.
