Tantris: sacred shrine of German gastronomy

The legendary Tantris restaurant, one of Germany's best, is famous for its inspired cuisine, attentive service, and very cool 1970s decor.

Tantris is one of the best restaurants in Germany, and has been since 1971. In 1991, star chef Hans Haas took over the kitchens of this legendary place, succeeding internationally renowned chefs like Eckart Witzigmann and Heinz Winkler. Haas prepares inventive and inspired food: roasted lobster with Jerusalem artichoke mashed; venison medallions with red cabbage; and rack of lamb au gratin with beans. Try his delicious and very sophisticated tasting menus—five to eight dishes—to discover the full range of his talents. With its vintage 1970s red decor by Swiss architect Justus Dahinden, Tantris continues to attract hip followers—as much for the truly amazing service as for the fantastic food and incredible wine list.
