City of the Ocean: crack the secrets of underwater life

The seas take up three quarters of the earth's surface but they remain quite unfamiliar. The Cité de l'Océan (City of Ocean) answers all your questions through educational exhibitions.

Like a wave out of water, the Cité de l'Océan raises its structure only two steps away from the Milady beach. Conceived by New York and Brazil architects Steven Holl and Solange Fabião, the building perfectly blends with its surroundings, like an extension of the ocean on land. It falls within an eco-friendly approach with thermal self-regulation and rainwater collection.

If you have always been fascinated with the oceans, and the question as to whether Atlantis really existed keeps you up at night, then hasten to the Cité de l'Océan, where you can learn everything there is to know about these maritime topics. Various exhibitions recount the origins of the ecosystem, its importance in evolution and for human life, reveal the secrets of Atlantis or the Bermuda Triangle… and will also take you to meet the last common ancestor between men and whales.
