Bohemian atmosphere at Sir Nikolai Hotel

Between Hamburg's old town and the modern HafenCity district, Sir Nikolai Hotel strikes a similar dichotomy, with a contemporary design tweak in a traditional house.

The Sir Nikolai Hotel took residence in a renovated 19th-century building, typical of Hamburg's Kontorhaus neighbourhood. Facing Nikolaifleet, one of the oldest canals in town, the hotel gives off a bohemian feel with a chic twist. It cultivates a glamourous image through its vintage and arty decoration. The rooms are therefore dressed in warm tones and, presented like small art galleries with contemporary art pieces hung on the walls.
Walk around the corridors, gaze at the high vaulted ceilings and mirror-covered walls, then head to the library: its glass roof is amazing. If every room offers unobstructed views over the city or the canal, the hotel's restaurant's terraces are well worth a stop: in a bistro atmosphere, Izakaya offers fusion food between Japan and Peru with a breathtaking vista over Hamburg. An ideal setting to gulp down a few oysters in wasabi cream served with some Beluga caviar, or a spicy tuna tartare served with crispy rice. A little gem of a hotel, right at the heart of the city.
